Frederick Catherwood

Frederick Catherwood (1799-1854) was an English architect who explored Mesoamerica in the mid 19th century and made some amazingly detailed drawings of the Mayan ruins which are the reason why I found out about him and think his work is really cool.

He also made several trips to the Mediterranean to draw the monuments of the ancient civilizations such as the Phoenicians, Egyptians, Carthaginians, etc. He was basically an explorer, artist and adventurer.
