Antonio Canaletto

Giovanni Antonio Canal (1697-1768) was an Italian painter whose work I found at the National Gallery of Scotland in Edinburgh and which caught my attention because of his highly detailed landscapes and spotless perspective.

He was born in Venice where he created many high detailed paintings of the city and lived also in London where he painted several scenes for his patrons about the city as well as their properties.

You can appreciate the insane amount of detail he put into each painting, giving them a stunning clarity; he even made every small detail on the texture of the buildings.
